All emergency services and related authorities were at the scene for a rescue operation; cars and houses were also reported to have burned beyond repair from the blast.
In desperate economic conditions, Christmas season is a time whereby, local entrepreneurs aim for profit by selling fire crackers; which is well in demand by consumers. The dilemma is, should the Nigerian government restrict the sales of fire crackers? or how can the safety of the public be ensured while maintaining the sales of such a dangerous product – which seem to be a strong source of most people’s income in this festive time.

***Lack of proper coordinated safety system leads to Christmas curses.***
